The 2nd meeting of the 2nd Editorial Committee of Chinese Herbal Medicines held in Tianjin

The 2nd plenary session of the 2nd Editorial Committee of Chinese Herbal Medicines (CHM) was held in Tianjin on January 19, 2014. The participants included the Editor-in-chief of CHM, Academician Chang-xiao Liu, Associate editors-in-chief, Prof. Li-da Tang and Prof. Shi-lin Chen, members of Editorial Board, Acade- mician Bao-feng Yang, Prof. Liang Liu, Prof. Guo-an Luo, Prof. Hong-xi Xu, Prof. Xiao-he Xiao, Prof. Wei-dong Zhang, Prof. Xiu-wei Yang, Prof. Shao Li, Prof. Zhi-duan Chen, Prof. Gang Bai, and the leaders of sponsors, Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research (TIPR) and Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMPLAD); and all editors of editorial office of CHM.

This meeting was chaired by Prof. Shi-lin Chen, the president of Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and associate editor-in-chief of CHM. Prof. Li-da Tang, the president of TIPR, gave a welcoming speech and showed gratitude to the presenting professors. Prof. Chang-qing Chen, the editorial director of CHM, reported the information of the new editorial committee and introduced the progress since CHM’s opening issue, the challenge we are facing, and the future direction by analyzing SCI Impact Factor.

Editor-in-chief of CHM, Academician Chang-xiao Liu, introduced the recent internationalized project of CHM, and pointed out that the main target of CHM at the present stage was becoming an SCI Journal. He invited the members of editorial board to give advices for CHM internationalization. Every professor advised towards the present situation and future progress of CHM. After the discussion, editorial board all agreed that entering SCI is the necessary way for journal development of CHM, which must rely on the strong support of editorial board. Professors expressed numerously that they would spare no efforts to help and conduct CHM to apply to SCI Database.

Prof. Yong Peng, assistant director of IMPLAD, indicted that as a sponsor, IMPLAD would support the internationalized progress of CHM. The editors should communicate with the experts at home and aboard, and send manuscript invitation positively. Prof. Li-da Tang summarized and appreciated to the editorial board after the discussion. At last, Academician Chang-xiao Liu issued the certificate for the presenting editorial board.

Though the meeting was short, the professors advised and discussed positively and effectively, put forward some constructive suggestions, and identified that the main direction and aim in the next stage were to make effort to submit SCI next year. Our aim is to make CHM international, thereby to promote internationalization and modernization of traditional Chinese Medicine.
