Introduction


Chinese Herbal Medicines (CHM) is an official international quarterly journal sponsored by Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. It is the first professional periodical in the Chinese materia medica field that published in English. The initial issue was distributed in October, 2009.

The editorial committee is composed of 49 experts, of which 10 are academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and 19 are foreigners. The honorary editor-in-chief is Academician XIAO Pei-gen, the founder of pharmacophylogenetics; The editor-in-chief is Academician LIU Chang-xiao; Associate editors-in-chief are Prof. TANG Li-da and Prof. CHEN Shi-lin.

CHM’s purpose is to provide a forum for the studies on Chinese herbal medicines, traditional medicines, and natural products. The journal will accept the following contributions: research articles, review papers, short communications, letters to the editor, book reviews, conference announcements, and information, etc. The journal includes the studies on active ingredients and complex formulations of herb medicines in medicinal resource, phytochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic function by experimental and clinical trials. It is the interest of this journal to introduce the latest development in pharmaceutical sciences to readers.

Since foundation of Chinese Herbal Medicines (CHM) in 2009, it has been included in China Academic Journals Integrated Online Database, and Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) in USA, Index of Copurnicus (IC) in Poland, and Ulrich's Periodicals Directory (UPD) in USA domestically and abroad. In 2011, it can also be cited in Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International Abstracts (CAB Abstracts) Global Health (GH), and EMBASE in Holland. In 2012, CHM is supported by the Project of Exquisite Academic Journal of Tianjin. Recently, CHM can also be cited in ESCI .

 On Oct 31st, 2017, Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) revealed CHINESE S&T JOURNAL CITATION REPORTS (Expanded version). As reported, the total frequency of Chinese Herbal Medicines (CHM) being cited was 135, the influence factor was 0.693, and 63% of all the papers were supported by fund.
