Objective To study the chemical constituents of Opuntia dillenii.Methods Many kinds of chromatographic methods were used in the isolation procedure,while the structures of compounds were elucidated by various spectral data.Results A newester together with five known compounds was isolated from the 80%ethanolic extract from cactus stems.The compounds were characterized as dimethyl （2R）一2一[（4一ethoxy一4一oxobutanoyl）oxy]succinate（I）,guaiacylglycerol-p-ferulic acid ether（Ⅱ）,methyl P-hydroxy-（E）一cinnamate（II）,methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate（Ⅳ）,and benzoic acid（V）.Conclusion Compound I,named opuntiaester,is a new one and compoundsⅡ一Ⅳ are obtained from the plants of Opuntia Mill.for the first time.
