Research on fingerprinting of TCM, though massive a nd burdensome, may afford a positive influence on the identification and quality control of TCM Thus, the development of fingerprintings of TCM on TLC, HPLC, GC, HPCE, UV, IR, NMR, MS spectra, X-ray diffraction and DNA molecular markers etc were reviewed.
