[Abstract]
Objective To conduct a visual analysis of the research status and hotspots of gelatin-based traditional Chinese medicines from a bibliometric perspective, with the aim of providing theoretical guidance for future in-depth research and application of these medicines. Methods Four databases-China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI), Wanfang, VIP, and Web of Science(WOS) were searched and imported the literature into Note Express for deduplication and screening. Excel and CiteSpace were used to perform a visual analysis of domestic and international research on gelatin-based traditional Chinese medicines, focusing on publication trends, institutions, authors, and keywords. Results A total of 1 124 Chinese and 125 English publications meeting the criteria were retrieved. Research on gelatin-based traditional Chinese medicines has shown continuous development, with China being the primary contributing country, though international attention has gradually increased in recent years. Core research teams in this field have begun to form, with collaborations mostly occurring within institutions or the same region, and cross-regional cooperation being relatively limited. Both Chinese and English literature in this field focus on quality control, pharmacological effects, mechanisms of action, and gut microbiota related to gelatin-based traditional Chinese medicines. Chinese literature places more emphasis on quality standards and process optimization, while English literature tends to focus more on molecular docking and characteristic peptides. Conclusion Interest in the quality control and mechanisms of action of gelatin-based traditional Chinese medicines continues to rise. Molecular docking and in vivo and in vitro mechanism studies have provided new breakthroughs for research in this field. In the future, more advanced research technologies should be applied to further explore the mechanisms of action of gelatin-based traditional Chinese medicines and establish international standards to promote their high-quality development.
