From the rhizome of Smilax determined to be stuns Maxim., nine compounds were isolated and their strucruces Were friedelin, diosgenin, 3, 5, 3', 4'-trihydroxy stilbene, 3, 5, 3', 4'-tetrahydroxy stilbene, n-butanol-O-β-D-fructopyranoside, sitosterol-3-O-β-D-Blucoside, dioscin, methy1 pro;odioscin and pseudo protodioscin on the basis of chemical, spectral methods sad comparison with authentic samples.
