Editorial members of four journals published by Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines, including Chinese Herbal Medicines, met during October 8-10, 2013 and the Innovative Drug Development Information Exchange Conference was also held. Nearly 200 experts namely editorial members, special experts, and reviewers of the four journals attended the meeting.
The 2nd Editorial Board of Chinese Herbal Medicines was held on October 8, and Prof. TANG Li-da, the associate editor-in-chief of Chinese Herbal Mediciness and President of Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Prof. CHEN Shi-lin, President of Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences took the charge of the meeting. Prof. CHEN Chang-qing, the manager of Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines reported on the latest progress of CHM in the past two years and also expressed great thanks to the experts who have made great contributions to the development of Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines. On September 27, 2013, Institute of Science and Technical Information of China announced that CHM was newly selected as one of the Source Journals for Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations.
In the 2nd Editorial Board, Prof. CHENG Tommy, Professor of Pharmacology Department, Yale University, and Prof. GUO De-an, Principal Scientist of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica were recommended as associate editor-in-chief of CHM, and other thirteen experts form home and abroad were newly recommended as members of editorial board of CHM. Issuing letters of appointment to members of Editorial Board of CHM were awarded by Academician LIU Chang-xiao (associate editors-in-chief of CHM).
In the meeting, experts of editorial board discussed some problems and challenges in the development of CHM, such as adjusting the journal position, normalization of editing standard, increasing the quality of papers and the portion of overseas papers, so as to promote the process of internationalization of CHM, and enter more the international database.
